Canadian Government Extends Covid19 Travel Border Restrictions For Another Month
The Government of Canada announced yesterday via Twitter that it is extending current border measures for travelers entering Canada until at least June 30, 2022, with more extensions possible. The government announced that all travelers, regardless of vaccination status, must continue to submit their information via the Arrive Canada app, which you can access through the free app or website. The announcement comes less than a day after Canada’s Conservative Party motion to end all remaining Covid-19 restrictions on travel was defeated in the House of Commons.
Foreign travelers will continue to be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated Canadian citizens or permanent residents must also continue to show proof of a molecular Covid-19 test taken before entering Canada and must also quarantine for 14 days.
Travelers must continue to use ArriveCAN to provide mandatory travel information before and after their entry into Canada. The app is available for iOS, Android and web. The mobile app is free and is available in English, French and Spanish.
Travellers using ArriveCAN must identify:
· how they are entering Canada (for example, by air, land or sea) and
· where they are entering Canada (port of entry)
According to the website, all travellers, with limited exceptions, whether entering Canada by air, land, rail or marine vessel, must use ArriveCAN unless you're exempt from this requirement due to an accessibility need.
If you don't submit your information through ArriveCAN, you may be denied:
Canadian citizens, permanent residents, persons registered under the Indian Act and foreign nationals eligible to enter Canada under another entry exemption (such as foreign work, study, compassionate grounds) will not be denied boarding or entry, but you:
You'll need to submit your information within 72 hours:
