Delhi's Urban Extension RoadII To Open In 24 Months, Cut Airport Travel Time To 20 Minutes: Nitin Gadkari
Delhi's long-awaited Urban Extension Road-II (UER II), which connects North Delhi to the Delhi-Jaipur highway, will become operational within 2-4 months, said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday (October 1). He said the project will reduce travel time to the Indira Gandhi International Airport from two hours to 20 minutes.
Addressing the Indian diaspora in Prague, Czech Republic, on Sunday (October 1) Gadkari said, "We have constructed the UER-II ring road in Delhi. It will open in 2-3 months. Normally, if you didn't use this road it would take you two hours to get to the airport. But after the UER-II's construction, which will start in 3-4 months, you will reach the T3 airport in 20 minutes instead of two hours."
“A majority of the traffic jams and pollution in Delhi is because of the traffic going from North India to South India via Delhi. UER-II will reduce the traffic jam, time as well as pollution,” Gadkari said earlier.
The cost of the project is estimated to be around a total of Rs 7,716 crore, split across five packages of varying distances.
The Urban Extension Road-II has a length of 75 km and spans across six main expressway lanes and four service road lanes. It starts from NH44 at Alipur and ends at the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway on NH48 near Mahipalpur.
