Delmarva's Premier Mermaid Entertainment Company is swimming over to Mexico this fall.
That's right — Tasha Haight, PADI Mermaid Instructor Trainer and owner of Mermaid Tasha LLC — will be hosting a 9-day Mermaids in Mexico Certification Retreat from Nov. 15-23, 2024, in sunny Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Haight, who can be found swimming at hotels and waterparks across the Eastern Shore, first became a mermaid in 2009 for a Girl Scout camp and has been mermaiding professionally since 2017.
“The look on kids’ faces when they’ve always believed in mermaids but never met one, and then they finally see a mermaid - they’re just overjoyed and super happy to see me,” Haight previously shared with Delmarva Now.
During the retreat, participants will earn their mermaid certification from the Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI), swim with sea lions and whale sharks, and learn about turtle conservation, all while creating friendships and memories sure to last a lifetime.
PADI, initially founded in 1966, is an internationally recognized dive agency. PADI courses range from beginner to advanced recreational diver certification, as well as several specialized diving skills courses, Delmarva Now previously reported.
Andover Media will also be joining the trip to provide participants with individual and group highlight videos. While participants should feel comfortable in the water, no prior mermaid or diving experience is required, the company shared in a news release.

The mermaid certification retreat will be held at the all-inclusive RIU, booked by travel agent Kacie Walls of Travelista Travels. According to the release, double occupancy packages start at $4,079 for full participants and $2,312 for non-mermaid buddies.
A day trip to La Paz to swim with sea lions and whale sharks, a turtle conservation tour, PADI Mermaid and PADI AWARE certifications, fabric mermaid tail rental, and five professionally edited photos are included in addition to the video content and breath-hold, modeling,= and business coaching workshops.
There are eight spots available on Mermaid Tasha’s first international retreat to Mexico, so don't hesitate to dive in. The deadline to reserve a spot is March 1, with final payments due by Sept. 29.
