5 Mutilated Bodies Were Discovered In A Taxi, And 3 More Victims Were Disposed Leading To Cancun Arrests

Six drug gang members were detained on Monday, according to prosecutors, in the Mexican vacation town of Cancun. The gang is accused of killing five victims, machete-ing them, and dumping the other three in a shallow grave.

What Happened?

Five mutilated victims were discovered inside a taxi on January 29, according to the authorities, and three more bodies—one of which has been identified—were later discovered in a grave.

Authorities also reported that 23 persons had been arrested on suspicion of running a phony tour company that covered up drug transactions in Cancun.

The defendants ran a call center where they promised visitors travel packages and sporting goods but never delivered them. They allegedly ran a sophisticated operation on the second floor where drug deals were arranged over the phone and delivered by motorcycle. During a search of the property, police allegedly discovered seven motorcycles, cell phones, bank cards, laptops, methamphetamines, and marijuana.

Another suspect was detained in Cancun. He was accused of ordering drugs by rapid package delivery from social networking platforms and selling them there as well, complete with home delivery.
